We join the families in ways that create a higher likelihood of positive results for our clients and greater safety for the community. Balancing a genuine nurture for their children with the responsibility of preventing further abuse is a life-task that parents and extended family members can both value and master.

Hand Up Homes for Youth, Inc. in close collaboration with families and communities, will provide effective prevention, treatment and support by empowering children and their families to achieve optimum health.

"This is the true joy in life – that being used for a purpose recognized by yourself as a mighty one. That being a force of nature, instead of a feverish little clod of ailments and grievances complaining that the world will not devote itself to making you happy. I am of the opinion that my life belongs to the whole community and as long as I live it is my privilege to do for it whatever I can. I want to be thoroughly used up when I die. For the harder I work the more I live. I rejoice in life for its own sake. Life is no brief candle to me. It’s a sort of splendid torch, which I’ve got to hold up for the moment and I want to make it burn as brightly as possible before handing it on to future generations."

About Us

Hand Up Homes for Youth, Inc. (HUHFY) has been serving adolescents and families of sexually abusive youth in the state of Northern Nevada since 2002.  Our agency originated in Colorado in 1996 and has established several facilities serving sexually abusive youth and families in North Carolina and Nevada.  We have enjoyed much success in the treatment of sexually abusive youth within these programs and look forward to continued success.  Community safety is our highest priority and guides our clinical decision-making about treating sexually abusive youth in a responsible and compassionate manner.

Clients In Our Care

HUHFY serves the community around us by treating adolescent males, ages 12-18, who have a history of sexually abusive, aggressive and reactive behaviors. Many of these young people have serious deficits in intellectual and developmental functioning.  Nearly all of our clients require psychiatric care for a broad variety of debilitating disorders.

Behavioral Health Services and Evidence Based Practices

Our program is all encompassing, providing 24-hour care/monitoring to at risk-youth.  Some of the services we provide include:
